Sowohl das englische U21-Nationalteam als auch die USA haben das Semifinale zweier internationaler Bewerbe erreicht: Die Hammers Mark Noble (Bild) und Nigel Reo-Coker waren beim 2:0 (1:0) gegen Serbien im Einsatz, Anton Ferdinand saß auf der Ersatzbank. Im Semifinale spielt England U21 nun am Mittwoch gegen Gastgeber Holland. Im CONCACAF Gold Cup, an dem sich die Fußballnationalmannschaften aus Nordamerika, Mittelamerika und der Karibik beteiligen, lösten die USA ebenfalls das Semifinalticket mit einem 2:1 (0:0) gegen Panama. West Ham-Außendecker Jonathan Spector, der in zwei Gruppenspielen des Gold Cups (2:0 gegen Trinidad & Tobago und 4:0 gegen El Salvador) dabei gewesen war, fehlte allerdings diesmal. Die USA werden am Donnerstag in Chicago gegen Kanada um den Einzug ins Endspiel kämpfen.

"I feel Spector has looked great in the Gold Cup he was not used in the Quarter Final because he had played the previuos two matches and coach Bradley is definately rotating players to keep everyone fresh. I think he might well play in the semi final because he has looked better than Frankie Hejduk. Either way he should be on the Copa America squad because Bradley apparently has decided to send the MLS portion of the squad back to their clubs so expect Spector to start much of the Copa America. So he should go head to head with Tevez as th US plays Argentina first. In my opinion West Ham need to give him a shot I think with more playing time he has some great upside."
