Derby-Maskottchen gibt die Hörner ab

Nicht genug, dass Premier League-Aufsteiger Derby County letzten Sonntag gegen West Ham 0:5 unterlegen ist, die schlechteste Angriffslinie und die schlechteste Verteidigung der PL hat (Torverhältnis -26; auswärts gelang den "Rams" überhaupt noch kein Tor!) und mit nur einem Sieg und 6 Punkten am letzten Platz der Tabelle liegt... - Nun hat auch das erste "Full Time-Maskottchen" der Liga, Dean Mottram alias "Rammie" (rechts), den Klub verlassen.
Der Widder, das traditionelle Symbol der Stadt Derby, oder jedenfalls Dean Mottram als Widder, wird im Pride Park von Derby also nicht mehr seine Späße treiben. Grund für den Auszug des Maskottchens sollen Streitigkeiten mit der Klubführung über die Finanzierung des "Rammie" gewesen sein, der seit 17 Jahren nicht nur im Stadion sondern auch in der lokalen Community aktiv war.
Auf der Website Rams Mad wird Folgendes berichtet:
"A Derby County legend has left the club, not a highly paid superstar but one of the fans all time favourites. Yes Rammie has left the building, or at least the originator of the now nationally famous mascot, Dean Mottram.
Forty year old Mottram was involved in a row with the club over how his role was funded and Mr Mottram decided to quit his job that he has had for 17 years. Dean was yesterday said to be sad at quitting his job.
Rammie was the very first professional or full time mascot in the football league in 1996 and has been on hand to help promote the club and get the crowd in good voice on match days, as well as his superb work with Children and charities in the community. Dean has also attended over 6,000 children's parties.
