Rapid beat Liverpool thanks to a goal from German skipper Steffen Hofmann (free kick) in a sold-out Ernst Happel-Stadium in Vienna. Two goals from Rapid and one from Liverpool were ruled out because of off-side.
It was a nice warm evening and a worthy celebration of Rapid's 110th anniversary.
Ex-Hammers Yossi Benayoun and Javier Mascherano played for Liverpool in the second half.
Liverpool-captain Steven Gerrard played the first half (and tackled Rapid's Hannes Eder despite having lost his left shoe / picture).
